    Go Hunt Insider

    Featured in:

If you are interested in planning your first hunt out west or if you are an experienced western hunter and want to try a new state, it can be tough to find the information you need. State game agencies are notoriously bad at writing concise and comprohensible hunting rules. Take Arizona, for example. Their 2021 guide to state hunting regulations is 128 pages! On top of that, even if you have time to read all the rules for multiple western states (which can change from year to year), some of them use lottery systems to award tags that are baffling to try and understand. This is where Go Hunt Insider comes in. Available for $149 per year, it can seem pricey. However, it does provide some intriguing resources to hopeful western hunters.

    What It Does

Go Hunt insider is a sort of online warehouse of up to date hunting information. It covers the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The beauty of the site is that they cut through the thousands of pages of state regulation books and compile the stuff you need to know to apply for a draw or book an over the counter hunt. Featuring in depth information on every hunting unit in all 14 of the states they cover, there are over 4200 hunting unit profiles available online. Each of these features information about odds of drawing a tag, when to apply, what species are available, historical weather, access points, and even places to look for game. The website features a one week free trial that anyone can sign up for which gives you full access to all of the insider features.

Let me be clear, most of the information on Go Hunt Insider is publicly available. Anyone can look this stuff up for themselves. However, if you are considering applying for lottery draw tags in multiple states it can save you a ton of time. By having odds of actually drawing tags and information on hunting pressure and success rates, you can plan a targeted approach to applying for tags which will ensure that your application money is not wasted and you have the best chance of drawing the tags you want. $149 for an annual subscription is not cheap, but when you are planning multiple expensive trips out west it can be money well spent. While Go Hunt Insider may not be for everyone, if you are interested in learning more about planning a western hunt, I highly recommend at least signing up for the free trial and checking out the features available.
