    Michigan Spring Turkey Deadline Approaching

    Michigan spring turkey season is less than three months away. While we have to get through winter first, the deadline for applying for a limited license tag is approaching on February 1st, 2021. The following chart shows the different units for spring turkey in Michigan.

    If you will be hunting above unit ZZ (on the above map) you may purchase a hunt 0234 license for spring turkey. There is no quota for a license for hunt 0234, and you can purchase them anytime after March 15th, 2021. The hunting dates for 0234 are May 1st 2021-May 31st 2021.

    For everyone interested in hunting in unit ZZ, you will need to apply for the draw for a specific hunt. The best chance of success for drawing a license is if you will be hunting private lands. You can then apply for a unit ZZ private land only license, which is called hunt 0301. The hunting dates for hunt 0301 run from April 17th 2021-May 31st 2021. There are 50,000 licenses available for hunt 0301.

    There are also limited license hunts available for all of the lettered units in the above map. They are valid on both public and private land. Season dates and number of available license are below:

    Applying For A Limited License Hunt

    You can apply for a limited license hunt now through February 1st, 2021. The application fee is $5. Drawing results will be available online on March 1st 2021. If selected, you will still need to buy your actual spring turkey license which will cost $15 for residents. If not selected, you will get the first crack at leftover licenses on March 8th, 2021. Leftover licenses go on sale to the general public on March 15th, 2021.
