We’ve all been there. After a promising bit of calling while the tom is on the roost, he gets down with some hens and is locked up for a while.
This great video from youtube channel ‘The Natural Calling’ features them running into this exact situation and how they work through it. As you’ll see the trick for them is to work the hens, getting them to break from the group, and come in to investigate the potential rival.
Eventually the hunter moves closer to the group. Finally, the tom comes in and they are able to get it done. Goes to show you should stay on the tom and sometimes you can get them to come in, even though they are henned up.
